Whenever the load is lighter than the maximum lifting capacity, then the ESR function will permit a higher speed for lifting and lowering. This is without doubt the most popular smart feature. It reduces cycle times and therefore also waiting times, through which efficiency clearly increases.

Inching

Inching

This function makes reaching a final position possible with great precision. It lets the crane operator carry out continuous small movements.
Inching can be applied to lifting, trolley and crane movements. The interval can be set individually for each of the 3 types of movements, and a standard distance of between 5 and 100 mm. This "smart feature" increases productivity and safety, especially when a very precise load positioning is required.

Load floating

Load floating

This feature is only available in combination with S-type motors. 


During a loading cycle, it is not always possible to relocate the load in a single movement, from the starting to the final position. Sometimes small in-between steps are necessary.
During a previously set time period and without activating the drive brake, the load floating function keeps the load in a stop position. The drive keeps the necessary torque at standstill, so that the brake does not have to be engaged.
This function makes it possible to restart the movement more quickly and softly, since the brake does not have to be activated, giving the operator a better control over the load. It also decreases wear and tear on the mechanical brake, since it is used less frequently.

Micro-speed

Micro-speed

This feature was designed to make the control of loads more precise. It can be activated for all movements, so that large movements of the joystick result in slow and precise relocations of the load. This "smart feature" makes it possible for the operator to move the load with great precision and increased safety.

Restricted load areas

Restricted load areas

The maximum lifting capacity of the hoist can vary, namely in function of the position of the hoist on the overhead crane, or in function of the position of the overhead crane on its runway. This makes it possible to select an optimal load, in function of the available runway. Let us assume that the highest lifting capacity of the runway is 4 tonnes, then you can safely lift up to 5 tonnes in the central section of the overhead crane.
Or, also, if you lengthen the existing runway and wish to have a higher lifting capacity in the new area: As you see, the "restricted load areas" smart function offers a solution in many different situations.

Shock load prevention

Shock load prevention

The shock load prevention function ensures a soft pickup of the load. The frequency control unit of the hoist monitors the load. Whenever a load is picked up abruptly, then the lifting speed will be automatically reduced, until the load has been lifted. This system prevents shocks to the crane, which ensures a longer service life of the crane structure and its mechanical components, such as cables, the cable drum, motor reduction gearbox, etc.

Slack rope prevention

Slack rope prevention

This is a function that prevents a slack cable and is an important plus point, whenever lifting equipment such as hoisting beams are used. Whenever the load sags, the hoist will detect when the load has effectively been set down, whereby the lowering movement is immediately stopped. The cable remains taut, so that it cannot slip out of the hook block. The lifting equipment will not fall over or damage the load.

Tandem

Two hoists on a single overhead crane can substantially increase the ease of use and safety. Simultaneous starting and stopping of lifting movements, and the operation of the trolley, is a requirement in that case.
The tandem control of SWF Krantechnik GmbH makes it possible to operate 4 hoists and trolleys, by linking them on a single overhead crane. It speaks for itself that it is also possible, to select and operate each hoist separately. The load summation function ensures that the maximum lifting capacity of the overhead crane is not exceeded, while each hoist can be independently and optimally used.

Master / slave

Master / slave

Two overhead cranes can safely handle a single large load, if they are simultaneously controlled by a single "master" remote control unit. All movements are then carried out simultaneously, and they are also coupled to back. If, for instance, the first overhead crane slows down, because it reaches the end buffers, then the second overhead crane will slow down at the same time.
A "slave" remote control unit is available for the second overhead crane, so that both overhead cranes can be operated independently of one another by two operators.
